Richmond School District Hosts Public Meetings To Discuss Budget Issues |
The Richmond Board of Education anticipates a significant budget shortfall when the Provincial government announces the 2010/11 budget in March. Early estimates are that the shortfall could be $5 to $9 million, large enough to result in significant staff layoffs. The school district will host two public meetings to invite discussion and input from parents, staff and the community regarding budget challenges. See below for further information on dates and locations.
As part of this discussion, public meetings will be hosted by the Richmond Board of Education from 7-9 pm on January 27, 2010, at McMath Secondary School and February 4, 2010, at MacNeill Secondary School. The Richmond District Parent Association will also be discussing the budget at their January 19, 2010, meeting from 7- 9 pm at the School District Offices. |

BC Parents Organize to Fight 50% Cuts to Gaming Grants for PACs and District PACs |
The Provincial Government has announced a decision to cut gaming grants to school PACs this year from $20 per student to $10 per student. The BC Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils is coordinating a response to challenge this decision.
As a parent, you are encouraged to contact your MLA to express your concerns and share the important things supported at your school by your PAC/DPAC. A complete listing of MLAs, including phone, fax, email and mailing addresses can be found here. Please copy info@bccpac.bc.ca on any such correspondence.
Representatives of each school PAC are asked to complete the BCCPAC survey on the use of gaming funds. If your PAC/DPAC has not yet completed it, we urge you to do so by Friday, September 11, 2009. Only one survey per PAC/DPAC, please. This can be accessed from our website at www.bccpac.bc.ca, or through this link. |
