Flood Victoria with Cards, Letters & Phone Calls – NOW!

Grab the phone or a piece of paper, an old birthday card, or a postcard and tell the provincial government how important you feel it is for them to adequately fund our children’s education. By simply taking the time to write to them (and actually putting it in the mailbox) you will be letting them know you are watching the decision they are about to make.

Parents around the province are rallying to get their letters, emails and phone calls in by March 1st, in time to influence the budget decisions. If you miss the deadline, don’t let it stop you. Please take action, regardless of the date. Here are some of the people who should hear from you:

BC Parents Organize to Fight 50% Cuts to Gaming Grants for PACs and District PACs

The Provincial Government has announced a decision to cut gaming grants to school PACs this year from $20 per student to $10 per student. The BC Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils is coordinating a response to challenge this decision.

As a parent, you are encouraged to contact your MLA to express your concerns and share the important things supported at your school by your PAC/DPAC. A complete listing of MLAs, including phone, fax, email and mailing addresses can be found here. Please copy info@bccpac.bc.ca on any such correspondence.

Representatives of each school PAC are asked to complete the BCCPAC survey on the use of gaming funds. If your PAC/DPAC has not yet completed it, we urge you to do so by Friday, September 11, 2009. Only one survey per PAC/DPAC, please. This can be accessed from our website at www.bccpac.bc.ca, or through this link.
